Man pretends to be manager at Denny's

I dig this part "Summers' ruse was not a grand slam." =)) rolling on the floor

I guess it was a Sizzlin' Skillet instead? :-? thinking

Wearing a maroon tie and with a briefcase in hand, James B. Summers, 52, strolled confidently into a Madison, Wisc., Denny's restaurant ready to start his first day of work as general manager. There was just one problem- he wasn't hired for the job.

"He claimed he was the new general manager, that he had worked for the restaurant chain for 30-years and was starting his new job - right now," the police report stated.
The restaurant's manager, Tracy Brant, suggested perhaps Summers had the wrong restaurant, but the self-appointed general manager refuted the idea.

Brant closed the door to her office and called the corporate office while Summers got to work on his first "official" duty- cooking himself a burger and fries.

After receiving confirmation from those higher-up on the food chain that Summers was lying, Brant confronted her new faux boss mid-meal and told him that his charade was over.
When police arrived, they found Summers walking away from the restaurant. He told officers there must have been a "paperwork goof-up." He returned to the restaurant so police could hear both sides of the story.
Summers' ruse was not a grand slam. Police booked him on charges of fraud, possession of an electric weapon (a stun gun), disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.

As police escorted Summers out of the restaurant, he shouted, "This is why you don't dine and dash, kiddies!"

Saks Fifth Avenue says dogs are Ultimate Accessory

Note to Saks Fifth Avenue: dogs (or cats, or any other animal) are not fashion accessories. I anxiously awaited the March issue of Vogue magazine of which I am a subscriber. I love Vogue so much that I am paid up for the next two years. Imagine my horror as an animal rights advocate when I turn to a full page ad in Vogue for Saks Fifth Avenue's personal shopping club. The ad is towards the front of the magazine, on the flip side of another Saks ad showing an Oscar De La Renta number and opposite another full page ad for Saks featuring Donna Karan. I was so stunned that I have put the book down and have come here to write about it.

The ad in question features a model wearing Giambattista Valli. The small print at the bottom of the page says "Our shopping Associates will treat you like a celebrity in the Fifth Avenue Club, where they'll assemble clothing accessories and cosmetics for you in a private suite. We even take care of the ultimate Beverly Hills accessory-we'll walk your dog while you shop."

Okay, stop the presses. Saks could have mentioned their dog walking service without referring to dogs as the Ultimate accessory. This really burns me up and I'm sure this is going to anger a lot of people who took the time to read what this ad says.

Fashion has never been kind to animals. People buy dogs and cats everyday and then when they don't match the decor or their outfits, they get sent to their deaths in our animal shelters. This was a very irresponsible thing to say and encourage. Animals are not ultimate fashion accessories. They are living, breathing beings that have emotions. Acquiring them takes commitment. This is not about tossing out your out dated drapes or last season's clothing but sadly, this mentality does lead to animals being abandoned. As someone who rescued three cats, a dog and turtles, I am apalled by this statement. All of my animals were left to die because somebody thought their lives were of no value. The fashion industry needs to take a stand against this attitude.

Shame on you Saks Fifth Avenue!

Whitney Houston Family Sells Funeral Footage

The world was captivated as Whitney Houston's funeral was broadcast via live streaming video all over the world just three days ago. The soil not even settled on her grave, and already this has turned into a media circus. There is an upcoming auction of outfits that Houston wore in the movie The Bodyguard but celebrity collectibles are to be expected after their death. What was unexpected was the family's decision to broadcast the funeral. One could look at it as a kind gesture to allow the fans closure. I wondered where these church people, the likes of Kevin Costner and all of these "biggest fans" were when she needed them. Oh, that's right, the fans and the media were too busy pointing and laughing at her for her addiction. Silly me. They built her up just to tear her back down. And those T-shirt venders along the funeral route? Over the top tacky. But, this latest move man very well trump them all. Houston's "estate" is now apparently selling the video of her funeral for an undisclosed sum. You can bet it's a substantial sum. Whitney remains in death what she was in life. In my opinion, a meal ticket. Did this woman have any real friends (besides her daughter) who saw that there was a human being suffering rather than just a money making machine?

Pastor said, mama Houston brought the world to church. I nearly cried at that sentiment. True, her funeral was one of the grandest send offs I had ever witnessed and if you have ever been to a Catholic Italian funeral, you know that's hard to top. It was a celebration and now that I look back, quite theatrical. Nevertheless, I thought how wonderful and how courageous it was for the family to share what surely was their darkest hour with all of us who only knew Whitney Houston through her music and her films.

According to a representative for the family, the proceeds from licensing the video to various media outlets will "help maximize the estate for the benefit of Bobbi Kristina." Bobbi Kristina the one who appears to be the most devestated by her mother's death.

At this point, I am not sure what to think about why the family decided to broadcast this funeral. It appeared as a sincere gesture toward friends and fans at the time. Jowever, news outlets like the Associated Press, CNN and a few others that were there to provide a live stream from the funeral were forced the very next day to remove it.

We all know that if the family didn't license the video that somebody else surely would have found a way to profit from it.

The Worst of New York Fashion week

New York fashion week has come to an end. We gave Ralph Lauren a standing ovation. We saw models including veteran supermodel Christie Brinkley take a tumble. We enjoyed the celebrities, the style makers and the trendsetters. Now it's time to get down to the serious business of presenting what we believe are the worst fashions of the week and we hope that we won't be seeing anymore of this. Here is what is probably my top pick of the worst.

Eckhaus Latta

I mean just what the hell is this? Okay, never mind that wearing socks with sandals is a ridiculous look even if you're running out to shop, I don't know Wal-Mart at midnight. This looks like bricks or even bar of soap strapped to this models feet with rubber bands! Who is responsible for this fashion fiasco? Eckhaus Latta.

Be sure to bookmark my blog because I have a lot more to say about some of the attrocious attire.

Ralph Lauren show at new York Fashion week

One of the last shows at New York Fashion Week was Ralph Lauren. Indeed, they had saved one of the best for last. I am also happy to report that although there seemed to be a record number of slips and trips on the runway this year, Ralph Lauren's models were flawless. I am also very happy to see that heel height is lower our chiropractors will indeed approve.

Ralph Lauren's Fall 2012 collection featured dapper menswear with a feminine twist for women and vintage glamour. Plaid jodhpurs, houndstooth coats and Fair Isle sweaters for day, and ultra-luxurious satin gowns for evening.

During my last visit to Miami's zoo, it was still called the Metro Zoo. I took these photographs of a sign that asked visitors for their comments or suggestions...not that it would matter lol.

The sign says "Miami Metro Zoo Comment box. We're all ears! Please place comments in box below."

and this is a full length shot of that sign, showing you the only suggestion box below!

lead discovered in most lipstick formulas

Did you know that most lipstick formulas contain lead? Lead is toxic even at low levels and it has been banned in paint since the late 1970's. So why is it found in lipsticks, a beauty product that most women, like myself wear every single day? We're not talking about the cheap brands here either. Lead has been found in our best selling brands.

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics analysed of a study of lead found in lipstick that was conducted by the FDA. The Campaign for safe cosmetics wants consumers to know that in the majority of the four hundred different lipstick brands and formulas tested in this study, teested positive for lead.

"Recognizing that there is no safe level of lead exposure, we need to be protecting women and children from all levels of exposure," said Stacy Malkan, co-founder of the campaign -- a non-profit coalition of environmental- and cancer-prevention groups.

Stacy Malkan's organization urges the FDA to set limits on how much lead lipsticks can contain. But I don't think that goes far enough. There should be no lead at all. I don't trust the FDA. After all, when the FDA's study found lead in these cosmetics, the general public didn't hear anything about it until a third party took a closer look at their research.

There are many dangers of wearing these products and not just to your own health and well being. What about the children women kiss while wearing it? And what is the effect on unborn children? Anything that touches the skin gets inside our bodies.

Are there brands that seem to contain more lead that others? Well, yes. The group said that five of the nine lipstick brands with the most lead are sold by L'Oreal, the world's largest cosmetics manufacturer. L'Oreal's "Color Sensational" Pink Petal had the highest levels of lead of any lipstick tested at 7.19 parts per million.

New York Fashion Week 2012

It's hard to believe that it's that time of year again, but New York Fashion Week officially kicked off at the Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection Fashion Show at Hammerstein Ballroom.

The runway was star-studded; Minka Kelly sparkled in a sequin frock, while funny girl, Jenna Elfman danced down the runway giving the paps a little shoulder shake.

80's supermodel Christie Brinkley walked the runway in a chiffon number by Pamella Roland, to a familiar tune-her Ex-husband's hit, Uptown Girl. For those of you old enough to remember, Christie Brinkley was also featured in Joel's music video.

Also on hand, La La, Aisha Tyler, Jennifer Nettles, Elisabeth Rohm, Gloria Estefan, Debbie Phelps, Patti Stanger and Chaka Khan.

Florida Judge Sentences Domestic Abuser

His punishment? Take your wife to dinner!

Each year, American woman experience 4.8 million incidents of violence from their partners . In 2005, three women each day were murdered by an intimate partner.

It is an epidepmic that needs to be taken seriously. Unfortunately, many judges do not.

Sonja Bray of Florida, age 39 explained to the court that she and her husband Joseph Bray got into an arguement when he forgot her birthday. The arguement escalated into a physical altercation when Jospeph reportedly pushed her on the sofa, held her by her neck and threatened her. Sonja Bray called the police and Joseph was arrested.

The presiding judge in the case called the incident "Very very minor" and then asked Mrs. Bray the name of her favorite restaurant. The judge actually ordered Joseph Bray to take her to that restraunt for dinner, buy her flowers and attend marriage counseling. With this ridiculous verdict and potentially endangering the safety of Sonja Bray, the case was closed.

Justice For A special dog

The holiday wasn't so cheerful for a dog who needs our help. Some sick kids thought it was funny to put a fire cracker in his mouth and make sure that he couldn't open it. This is a link to a petition that will show public support for justice for this dog. Take a stand against animal abuse.

Doctors honest about being dishonest

According to a new study, conducted by Harvard Medical School found that 11% of physicians say that they have told a patient or a child's guardian something that was not true in the past year. More shocking, 20% of doctors say they have not made full disclosure of a mistake, fearing a malpractice lawsuit.

The results of this study also show that 34% of physicians who were surveyed did not completely agree that doctors should reveal all significant medical errors to affected patients. Instead, these doctors said they only somewhat agreed, or disagreed.

"Our findings raise concerns that some patients might not receive complete and accurate information from their physicians," the researchers write in the February issue of the journal Health Affairs. The findings also question whether patient-centered care — which is a philosophy of medicine that respects the preferences, needs and values of patients — is possible without more openness and honesty, the researchers from Harvard Medical School said.

While the ultimate consequences of these lies or non disclosure remains unknown, they could make patients "less able to make health care decisions that reflect their values and goals," the researchers said.

The researchers admitted they they did not know the circumstances under which physicians lied.

More research is needed to better understand when and why physicians feel justified in not being straightforward with their patients.

The researchers surveyed approximately 1,900 physicians from a wide range of specialties about their agreement with the principles outlined in the Charter on Medical Professionalism, a charter endorsed by more than 100 professional medical groups worldwide.

While the majority of doctors agreed that physicians should "never tell a patient something that is not true," about 17 percent did not completely agree.

In fact, 55 percent said that they had "described a patient’s prognosis in a more positive manner than warranted," in the last year, and about 28 percent said they had "intentionally or unintentionally revealed to an unauthorized person health information about one of [their] patients."

In addition, about 35 percent of doctors did not agree with the statement that physicians should "disclose financial relationships with drug and device companies to heir patients."

Women and minority physicians were more likely than white, male doctors to say they agreed with the principles of honesty and openness, according to the study. This may be because, as underrepresented groups in medicine, women and minorities feel more compelled to comply with such professional codes, the researchers wrote.

Some physicians might not tell their patients the whole truth because they don’t want to upset them, worry them or cause them to lose hope, the researchers said.

"Especially in the context of life-threatening illness, physicians might not tell patients the complete truth because of lack of training, time limitations, uncertainty about prognostic accuracy, family requests and feelings of inadequacy about their medical interventions," the researchers said.

Some physicians may also wonder about revealing errors when no harm came of them. However, studies show that "informing patients fully about medical errors can reduce anger and lessen patients’ interest in bringing malpractice lawsuits," the researchers said.

The fur is flying over bogus Twitter account

Cat Fancy, a well known magazine for feline lovers is not on Twitter at least not officially. Someone else has been impersonating Cat Fancy using the handle @Cat_Fancy claiming it to be the official Twitter feed of Cat Fancy Magazine and even going so far as to post images of it's magazine covers.

Here are a few of their recent tweets:

New cat pope ushers in 1,000 year reign of hell on earth.

Cats ignoring shrill cries for help coming from the basement while enjoying wine spritzers at a Super Bowl party.

Joyous pile of cats at Burning Man.

How many kittens can u fit in your mouth?

DEATH TO ALL DOGS.

"We have no affiliation with the real magazine whatsoever," Carey O'Donnell, a 22-year-old New Jersey native and recent college grad who operates the @Cat_Fancy feed with Mary Charlene (@IamEnidColeslaw) and a guy named Steve (@MaybeNotSteve), wrote in a Twitter message. "[Steve] started it originally just for fun (cats are creepy) then asked myself and [Charlene] to help out in December."

Susan Logan, editor of the Irvine, Calif.-based Cat Fancy, told Yahoo News that she was unaware of the faux feed. "Oh no," Logan said.

"we cannot condone hijacking our trademark and undermining the trust our readers, " wrote Ms. Logan and signed the letter "purrs."

I see the resemblance

I'm a huge Muppet fan. Couple of weeks ago I went to check out the new Muppet movie. It was interesting to see what Disney would do with them. I wondered what or who inspired the Muppet characters. One thing is certain, Jim Henson no doubt had Donatella Versace in mind when he created Janice from the band, Electric Mayhem. Take a look. Sure does look like her. My God.

My Antique Dollhouse

I have some photos to share of my Colonial dollhouse when I first found it and before I started the renovation.

This is a very well built house. It is made from cedar and is nothing like the mass produced dollhouses that you can purchase in any kit today. As you can see there has never been a front door and there is much work to be done, inside and out.

This is one of my babies, Bastet giving us a tour of her house lol. This was before the fabric covering the floor on the lowest level was removed. Bastet has always loved this house. Her favorite part seems to be the attic. She has been very good about sharing the house with mom's construction company and she avoids the rooms that I am working in. Neither of my other two kittens are the least bit interested in the house.

Scruffy the cat tragedy turns into Activism

Scruffy was euthanized by Arizona Humane Society on December 8, 2011

When I first heard about Scruffy, the little kitten who was euthanized at the Arizona Humane Society because her owner Daniel Dockery couldn't get the money together fast enough for their liking, I thought where was Scruffy's happily ever after? She defied the odds. Abandoned at birth and a compassionate soul found her, loved her and cared for her. She defied the odds only to end up euthanized by a shelter.

Few months ago, I found a kitten, I named him Merlin. Merlin was found abandoned at the side of a highway in Miami. All those cars flew past. Nobody stopped. I did. He was safe. I brought him home. He was starving and his bones were showing. He ate, gained weight but still was sickly. I brought him to and from the vet many times. At his third visit they found out Merlin had leukemia. The shelfish people abandoned this baby when he was sick and needed them most. The vet recommended he be euthanized but I couldn't bring myself to consent. He died later that same day. It was then I thought of the obstacles that Merlin overcame..the abandonment, the passing cars... and I wondered where his happily ever after was. Scruffy's story reminded me of Merlin. This was another baby that deserved so much more than what they got.

If there is a brought side to Scruffy's story, she has become a bit of a celebrity. Some concerned folks have created a Facebook page in her memory and have used that venue to become a voice for not only Scruffy but for abused and abandoned animals all over the world.

University of Michigan using cats in medical experiments

A perfectly healthy grey tabby cat was taken by his owners to an animal shelter in Michaigan. The family believed they'd find him a new home. Instead the director of the shelter was a shady animal dealer, sold him to a sadistic university that tortured and abused him for painful medical training experiments.

The staff at Gratiot County Animal Shelter turned the cat over to the Class B animal dealer R&R Research, which in turn sold him to the University of Michigan. Here he wasn't given a new name or a new life. He was assigned an ID number of 8269. He was tormented every hour that he was at the University in the nurses training labs. They used cruel intubation techniques on him and he wasn't alone. He was abused right along with a female, Number 8312 was obtained from somebody who posted a "free cat to good home" ad on the internet. 8312 was illegally acquired by R and R Research before she was sold to the University of Michigan. When the lab was finished with these babies, they were murdered. Cats kept as pets become so trusting and it makes me sick that these people think nothing of violating that precious trust.

The fate of 8269 and so many other cats at the University were exposed when PETA got hold of records from Gratiot County and the University of Michigan. These records show that the University officials—including the director of the Survival Flight program—have blatently lied to the public by repeatedly telling the news media that the cats used in the Survival Flight lab are always adopted out afterward.

I don't hold PETA in high esteem myself because their organization has been exposed for euthanizing more animals than they help and also being deceptive about it. PETA kills animals by the thousands that fact is indisputable. But they are pretty good at pointing fingers and calling out other organizations.

You can help prevent more cats from being betrayed like 8269 by emailing University of Michigan officials demanding that they replace the use of cats in these labs with the superior human-patient simulators that the school already owns.

Ten year old French model Thylane Loubry Blondeau

French model Thylane Loubry Blondeau has attained some very coveted fashion gigs, including a cover and spread in the French Vogue magazine. So what's the controversy about? The fact that she is just ten years old. That has many people asking, how young is too young to model?

Blondeau is the daughter of former soccer player, Patrick Blondeau, and Veronika Loubry, a news reporter turned fashion designer.

There is no denying that this beautiful girl has a huge fashion career ahead of her and many in the industry are calling her the next IT girl. Critics however are saying that a girl of her age should not be photographed wearing so much makeup and striking "suggestive" poses. They say that it "sexualizes" young women. I hate to burst their bubble, but young women and girls have been sexualized by our society long before Ms. Blondeau was ever born.

The modeling industry is all about youth. The critics insist that she should wait until she is older and that no child this young should be modeling. How long would they have these girls wait? The oldest model ever signed to Elite was 25. Yes, you heard me, the oldest. Towards the time when I stepped back from modeling, I was doing shows with girls who were 14 years old. I myself started modeling at the age of 8. Did I grow up too fast? Was I exploited? Hardly. My parents never pushed me into modeling and I was free to quit any time. In truth, I enjoyed traveling, I enjoyed modeling and I still to this day love fashion.

The majority of the critics have no understanding of the modeling or fashion industry. Modeling is art, it's acting. Models portray characters whether it be on film or the runway. When I was not working, I wasn't out playing with my friends wearing high heels, my hair coiffed and make up that took a few hours to apply. I know this model isn't doing so either.

No one knows what this young models home life is really like. As long as she is happy and grounded then I don't see any problem with this. If people see these images and think of sex, then those are issues that need to be addressed by the people having those thoughts

Forbes lists Miami as 'Most Miserable' city

Forbes presented their list of what they believe to be the most miserable cities in the United States. Surprisingly to me, is that Miami ranked as their #1 most miserable city. I think this decision was based upon the housing situation but with all the foreclosures this is a buyers market. Miami has always been about wealth, and glamour. Everybody knows that.
Miami has always been a playground for the rich and famous. Celebrities party in South Beach and own incredible mansions in Miami Beach and Key Biscayne. 47% of homeowners cannot pay their mortgages and 364,000 properties have entered foreclosure since 2008.

Out of Africa plants

Today I received my two rare pachypodium babies from Out of Africa plants. I was very excited to have my new additions to my pachypodium collection and I am fortunate enough to live in a climate where I can keep them out in my (secure) backyard almost every day. Out of Africa is owned by Mike and Maureen Massara in Naples Florida. My order was placed on January 29th and they arrived at my door today! They were expertly packaged for shipping and were sent in their pots, to avoid shock to the plants. This is the first time that I have ordered from them and I have previously ordered other rare pachypodiums from TeeDee cactus in California. I highly recommend both of these companies if you are a collector looking to acquire new specimens.

I will take some photographs of my plants to show you and will upload them soon. On a side note, even if you don't enjoy gardening, digging in the soil can be healthy for you. A bacteria called Mycobacterium vaccae that acts like an antidepressant once it gets into your system. Mycobacterium vaccae increases serotonin and norepinephrine levels in the brain and makes us feel happier. The discovery was made a decade ago and the study was published in the 2007 edition of "Neuroscience."

So in a time when chemicals and harmful bacteria are being found in our food sourses, this is another great reason to grow your own healthy fruits and vegetables.

A letter from a freed slave to his former master

Cumberland Landing, Va. Group of
Some controversey regarding this recently discovered letter written in 1865 by Jourdan Anderson a freed slave to his former master Colonel P.H. Anderson. Is it authentic?

Dayton, Ohio,

August 7, 1865

To My Old Master, Colonel P.H. Anderson, Big Spring, Tennessee

Sir: I got your letter, and was glad to find that you had not forgotten Jourdon, and that you wanted me to come back and live with you again, promising to do better for me than anybody else can. I have often felt uneasy about you. I thought the Yankees would have hung you long before this, for harboring Rebs they found at your house. I suppose they never heard about your going to Colonel Martin's to kill the Union soldier that was left by his company in their stable. Although you shot at me twice before I left you, I did not want to hear of your being hurt, and am glad you are still living. It would do me good to go back to the dear old home again, and see Miss Mary and Miss Martha and Allen, Esther, Green, and Lee. Give my love to them all, and tell them I hope we will meet in the better world, if not in this. I would have gone back to see you all when I was working in the Nashville Hospital, but one of the neighbors told me that Henry intended to shoot me if he ever got a chance.

I want to know particularly what the good chance is you propose to give me. I am doing tolerably well here. I get twenty-five dollars a month, with victuals and clothing; have a comfortable home for Mandy,—the folks call her Mrs. Anderson,—and the children—Milly, Jane, and Grundy—go to school and are learning well. The teacher says Grundy has a head for a preacher. They go to Sunday school, and Mandy and me attend church regularly. We are kindly treated. Sometimes we overhear others saying, "Them colored people were slaves" down in Tennessee. The children feel hurt when they hear such remarks; but I tell them it was no disgrace in Tennessee to belong to Colonel Anderson. Many darkeys would have been proud, as I used to be, to call you master. Now if you will write and say what wages you will give me, I will be better able to decide whether it would be to my advantage to move back again.

As to my freedom, which you say I can have, there is nothing to be gained on that score, as I got my free papers in 1864 from the Provost-Marshal-General of the Department of Nashville. Mandy says she would be afraid to go back without some proof that you were disposed to treat us justly and kindly; and we have concluded to test your sincerity by asking you to send us our wages for the time we served you. This will make us forget and forgive old scores, and rely on your justice and friendship in the future. I served you faithfully for thirty-two years, and Mandy twenty years. At twenty-five dollars a month for me, and two dollars a week for Mandy, our earnings would amount to eleven thousand six hundred and eighty dollars. Add to this the interest for the time our wages have been kept back, and deduct what you paid for our clothing, and three doctor's visits to me, and pulling a tooth for Mandy, and the balance will show what we are in justice entitled to. Please send the money by Adams's Express, in care of V. Winters, Esq., Dayton, Ohio. If you fail to pay us for faithful labors in the past, we can have little faith in your promises in the future. We trust the good Maker has opened your eyes to the wrongs which you and your fathers have done to me and my fathers, in making us toil for you for generations without recompense. Here I draw my wages every Saturday night; but in Tennessee there was never any pay-day for the negroes any more than for the horses and cows. Surely there will be a day of reckoning for those who defraud the laborer of his hire.

In answering this letter, please state if there would be any safety for my Milly and Jane, who are now grown up, and both good-looking girls. You know how it was with poor Matilda and Catherine. I would rather stay here and starve—and die, if it come to that—than have my girls brought to shame by the violence and wickedness of their young masters. You will also please state if there has been any schools opened for the colored children in your neighborhood. The great desire of my life now is to give my children an education, and have them form virtuous habits.

Say howdy to George Carter, and thank him for taking the pistol from you when you were shooting at me.

From your old servant,

Jourdon Anderson.

Alberta Ferretti designs collection for Macy's

Macy’s announced today the continuation of its successful designer collaboration series, with a collection by Alberta Ferretti for its contemporary fashion “Impulse” department. The collection encompasses feminine dresses in a variety of lengths, lightweight pants, peasant style blouses and knitwear. The limited-edition capsule will be available in approximately 185 Macy’s stores nationwide and on macys.com beginning April 17, just in time for the spring shopping season.

“Alberta Ferretti’s thriving business, international appeal and modern aesthetic enticed us to collaborate with her on the next Macy’s designer capsule collection,” said Jeff Gennette, Macy’s chief merchandising officer. “An irresistible combination of bohemian styling and figure-conscious silhouettes, the ‘Alberta Ferretti for Impulse’ collection will strike just the right chord with our ‘Impulse’ customer.”

“Alberta Ferretti for Impulse only at Macy’s” takes cue from the feminine and modern styling of her namesake label, focusing on delicate fabrications like chiffon and voile to create style–conscious pieces made for the everyday woman. From bohemian styling to garden party fashions, the capsule is heavily influenced by Alberta’s Italian heritage. The juxtaposition of saturated oranges, pinks and teals offset the muted whites and tans that create a breezy, laid back mood reminiscent of the Amalfi coast. Key items will include bold hued dresses in maxi and strapless styles, bohemian blouses, oversized and abstract floral prints and macramé and lace detailing, priced on average from $49 – $119.

“Alberta’s sensibility is full of energy and when linked to her heritage, is interpreted in a unique manner for Macy’s ‘Impulse’,” said Nicole Fischelis, Macy’s group vice president and fashion director. “The collection is full of surprises with fabulous crochet and lacy knits, sensuous draped dresses and whimsical prints that translate into a color palette evoking the sky and the sea of the coast of Amalfi, the sophistication of Capri, and the Italian lifestyle.”

Alberta Ferretti always knew she was destined for the fashion industry. With a couturier as a mother, she spent her childhood surrounded by seamstresses in the laboratory of a dressmaker’s workshop. She opened her first boutique at a very young age, and soon after, decided to design and produce her first collection where she experimented with all she had learned about high-quality finishing and accurate execution. During the 80’s, she founded the eponymous company in San Giovanni in Marignano, and presented her collection on the catwalks of Milan, the capital of pret-a-porter. Another line was soon added to the main collection: Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, a younger and more urban line. In 2010, Alberta Ferretti launched her bridal collection Forever, and in 2011, at Pitti Immagine she presented her demi-couture collection Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition. The company soon grew with the implementation of a corporate structure, as a result of the arrival of her brother Massimo, who today is the Chairman of Aeffe SpA, the corporate umbrella for brands such as Alberta Ferretti, Moschino, Jean Paul Gaultier, Pollini, Cacharel and the newborn Cedric Charlier. The Alberta Ferretti presence continues to strengthen worldwide with boutique openings in every fashion capital from New York to Los Angeles, Milan to Paris, Moscow to Tokyo, and London to Dubai.

Additional designers in the series will be announced individually in advance of each capsule.
